About Tom Maarseveen I was born and raised in the Netherlands. I have been interested in photography since childhood, and at the age of 20, I bought my first SLR camera of the brand Praktica. It served me to learn the very basics of SLR photography. The development of the digital camera gave my interest in photography a new boost. Little by little I acquired more lenses and accessories in response to my increasing demands. Now I use different Canon SLR bodies and lenses, and other related equipment. In the year 2001 I left the Netherlands and went to work in the Middle East. I got to know this area very well. I moved to Muscat, the capital of the “Sultanate of Oman”, which is the place I still live, and (at least for the moment) plan to stay. Especially since 2005, I have invested (both time and money) in photography, and this has permitted me to create nice images of many different subjects. As a result of the continuous strive for perfection I started to study at the New York Institute of Photography. Currently I am working on projects which are published in various magazines and websites. As soon as that happens, you’ll be able to read about it in the BLOG section of this website. The purpose of this website is to share my photos and my articles. The internet is undoubtedly the most effective medium to publicize my work. My goal is to present a showcase of my photos combined with additional information on photography in general. The website contains many images (regularly updated) that covers all the main subjects of photography.
